The Norwich School of Graduate Studies Class of 2006
Residency Week 2006 Brings
Virtual Community Together
Graduate students told, "You are Norwich."
After 18 months of coursework, hundreds of students from Norwich University's School of Graduate Studies traveled from across the country and around the world to the Northfield campus June 18 - 24 for the annual residency conference.
Residency Week '06 featured debates, roundtable discussions, field trips and paper presentations. Students from five on-line graduate programs participated in a variety of events from tours of a granite memorial manufacturer and a windmill energy plant to lectures by guest speakers Henry Arnold from Goodrich Aerospace Corp., and Vermont Lt. Governor Brian Dubie.
Vermont Governor Jim Douglas and University President Dr. Richard Schneider joined SGS Dean Dr. Bill Clements, in welcoming the students to campus during an opening ceremony dinner on the 18th. Clements gave the students a presentation on the history of the University, which he began by telling the crowd of students, family and friends that packed Plumley Armory, "You are Norwich."
He spoke of the University's history as an innovative educational institution. "Our founder, Alden Partridge, believed wholeheartedly in the concept of experiential learning and the responsibilities of leadership."
"We want you to become involved as an alumnus of Norwich," Clements continued. "Join one of our many Alumni Clubs, consider mentoring undergraduate students or providing an internship. Attend Homecoming. We expect great things from you as you join a long line of distinguished Norwich alumni."
