Vermont Campus Tour
University Background
Greetings, I am Bill Clements, Dean of the School of Graduate Studies. Welcome to the Green Mountains of Vermont, the home of Norwich University. It is very important to us to instill in you a sense of belonging to our proud institution. We hope you take a few minutes to take our tour. The tour spans several files. We do it that way so it won't take too long for any one file to load on your computer.
Summers are wonderful in Vermont, with temperatures during the day averaging in the 70's and nights in the 50's. Summer turns into fall fairly quickly, but that is fine, as fall up here is unbelievable. Fall turns into winter fairly quickly as well, but again that is fine - unless you don't like snow - as we live within minutes of many fine ski resorts, including Stowe, Killington, and Sugarbush. Northfield, the village in which Norwich is located, received 180 inches of snow last year. The only bad season is spring. We won't talk about that. For your graduation, you will visit us in June, a wonderful month in Vermont.
The offices for Norwich's School of Graduate Studies are located on the common in downtown Northfield. Norwich University purchased the Vermont National Guard's Armory building in 2003, the facility was built in 1922.
The Norwich University Library is presently housed in the 58,000 square foot Kreitzberg Library, named for principal donors Barbara and Fred Kreitzberg (Class of '57). The Kreitzberg Library is a full-service academic library. The Library contains more than 240,000 books, about 800 printed periodical titles, and is a selective depository for Federal government publications. The Garrison Special Collections area on the fifth floor includes rare books and primary and unique source materials relating to military history, the history of Vermont, and the history of Norwich University. The Kreitzberg Library is also a great place to study, in either quiet individual or group study areas. The Mezzanine Computer Lab provides access to the campus network for your computing tasks.
